1920-1930 RARE PURSES & HANDBAGS

Elegant Handbags of the Deco Era

These  elegant handbags are the newest antiques . They are officially 100 years old..

The 1922 discovery of King, tut's tomb in Egypt was celebrated, not only by foreign travel, but in fashion. The Deco Era captured these themes, using elegant materials, Cartier designers created incredible luxury, handbags using gold, semi precious stone, and even diamonds. French purse makers used 17th and 18th century Persian silk textile fragments in their clutch purses. Glass beaded bags made of Italian or Bohemian beads captured Egyptian motifs. In France, designers like Jane Salfati used antique Persian textiles.

In America Jewelry stores like Tiffany's added precious metals to beaded and silk bags.
